Overview
A five-hour boat trip from Hurghada to Mahmya on Giftun Kebir island: snorkel the reefs with a guide and relax on white sand, with park fees included.
Mahmya is a small beach retreat on Giftun Kebir, the largest island in the protected Giftun national park off Hurghada. It's known for soft white sand, shallow turquoise water and very little in the way of buildings.
After hotel pickup and a short transfer to the marina, the boat takes you out to the island. Your guide leads a snorkelling session over the nearby reefs, where you can expect hard and soft corals, parrotfish, angelfish and shoals of small reef fish; turtles or rays sometimes appear too, though nothing is guaranteed.
Then there's time to lie on the beach or wade in the warm shallows before the boat heads back to the marina. You're at your hotel again after about five hours.
