Overview
A private day with car and guide: the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, a camel ride across the sand near the pyramids, and the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square.
Riding a camel with the pyramids on the horizon is a classic Egyptian picture, and this tour lets you do it at an easy pace. Your private car and guide collect you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza and drive to the Giza plateau, where you start at the Great Pyramid of Khufu and walk among the tombs of the officials buried around it.
Then it's time to climb into the saddle. Your camel kneels, you swing a leg over, and it rises with a lurch before plodding out across the sand with the three pyramids lined up behind you. After the ride you visit the Sphinx, carved from the bedrock of the plateau, before driving into central Cairo.
The afternoon is spent at the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, among statues, coffins and jewellery from three thousand years of history. Tutankhamun's treasures have moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, but your guide will help you find the highlights of this older collection. You're back at your hotel after about eight hours.
