Overview
A long day from Marsa Alam to Luxor by road, with a guided visit to Karnak, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, and lunch included.
Luxor is about four hours by road from Marsa Alam, across the Eastern Desert and along the Nile. We collect you from your hotel early, and the drive gives you time to doze or watch the mountains roll by.
In Luxor your guide takes you first to Karnak, the great temple of Amun, where the columns of the Hypostyle Hall rise like stone trees. After lunch you cross to the West Bank for the Temple of Hatshepsut, set in terraces against the cliffs, and a stop at the two seated giants known as the Colossi of Memnon.
Then it is the long road back to Marsa Alam. The touring takes about eight hours, with roughly four hours' driving each way on top, so this is a very full day.
