Overview
Travel north from Luxor to Cairo by VIP train, with meals served on board, a transfer to the station in Luxor and a guide to meet you on arrival in Cairo.
Some journeys are worth taking slowly. Instead of flying, you travel the length of the Nile Valley by train, from Luxor to Cairo, in a VIP carriage with meals served on board. We pick you up from your Luxor hotel and see you onto the train.
Outside the window, Egypt goes about its day: sugarcane and clover fields, palm groves, irrigation canals, donkey carts on the farm tracks and villages of mud brick and concrete, with the desert cliffs never far away. The journey itself takes around ten hours, so bring a book, though you'll find yourself looking up from it often.
Your guide meets you on arrival in Cairo and accompanies you into the city and on to your hotel. Door to door, the day runs to about 14 hours. It's a relaxed way to move between Upper Egypt and the capital, and to see the countryside most visitors only glimpse from the air.
