A three-hour guided visit from your hotel to Sharm El Sheikh's Tutankhamun museum, where displays recreate the treasures found in his tomb in 1922.
Howard Carter's discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922 is still the most famous find in archaeology. We pick you up from your hotel and take you to the museum in Sharm El Sheikh devoted to the boy king, where your guide tells the story of the young pharaoh, his short reign and the long search that finally uncovered his tomb in the Valley of the Kings.
Inside, displays recreate the objects that filled the tomb: the golden mask, the gilded shrines, chariots, jewellery and the furniture he was buried with. The originals are now kept at the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, so this is a chance to understand them in context even if your trip doesn't reach Cairo.
The visit takes about three hours including transfers, which makes it an easy half-day outing and a good choice for a break from the sun. It's a shared small-group tour.
