Overview
A compact five-hour layover tour from Cairo airport: the Giza pyramids and the Sphinx, then a stroll through the medieval Khan el-Khalili bazaar.
Five hours is short, but it's enough for two very different sides of Cairo. Your guide meets you at the airport after passport control and heads straight for Giza, where you see the Great Pyramid up close, all three pyramids together from the viewpoint, and the Sphinx.
On the way back across the city you stop at Khan el-Khalili, which has been trading in the heart of medieval Cairo since the 14th century. Wander the narrow lanes past brass lanterns, spice sacks and perfume bottles, or take a seat at a café for a glass of mint tea and some people-watching.
The timings are tight but realistic: your guide keeps an eye on the clock and the traffic, and lunch can be added if there's time. You're back at the airport about five hours after pickup.
