Overview
The quickest way to see the pyramids between flights: four hours from Cairo airport to the Giza plateau and the Great Sphinx, then back again.
If all you have is a few hours, make it the pyramids. Your guide meets you in the arrivals hall once you're through passport control, and you drive directly to Giza, about an hour away depending on traffic.
On the plateau you stand at the foot of the Great Pyramid, where the lowest blocks reach above your waist, and drive up to the viewpoint where all three pyramids line up against the desert. Then you walk down to the Great Sphinx, the lion with a king's face that has watched over the plateau since the reign of Khafre.
It's a focused visit, and your guide keeps a close eye on the time. You're back at the airport about four hours after pickup, in good time for check-in.
