Overview
A private overnight trip from Cairo to Bahariya, then by 4x4 through the Black Desert to the White Desert's chalk formations, with sandboarding and a night in a tent camp.
This is the short, private version of a desert trip: one day out, one night in camp and back in Cairo by early afternoon. It suits travellers with limited time who still want to see how the colours of the desert change from one valley to the next.
After the drive to Bahariya and its palm groves, you leave the tarmac in a private 4x4. The Black Desert comes first, its sand scattered with dark volcanic stone, and then the White Desert, where pale limestone has been worn into strange shapes. Along the way there is a chance to try sandboarding on the dunes.
Your guide, who speaks English or Spanish, sets up camp, and dinner is cooked at the site. In the morning, breakfast is at camp before the drive back, arriving in Cairo around two in the afternoon.
