Overview

An eight-hour layover tour from Cairo airport to the Giza pyramids, the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square and the Khan el-Khalili bazaar.

Eight hours gives you Cairo's three classic sights at a comfortable pace. Your guide meets you after passport control and drives you to Giza first, to walk around the Great Pyramid, take in the panoramic viewpoint and stand in front of the Sphinx.

In central Cairo, the Egyptian Museum's high-ceilinged halls are crowded with colossal statues, painted coffins and fine jewellery, and your guide helps you make sense of it all. Tutankhamun's collection has moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, but there is still plenty here to keep you looking.

The last stop is Khan el-Khalili, a maze of lanes in the medieval city where shopkeepers sell lanterns, spices, silver and souvenirs. Lunch can be added along the way, and you're back at the airport about eight hours after pickup.
