Overview

A quick tour of Egypt's highlights: the Egyptian Museum, the pyramids and the Citadel in Cairo, a full day in Luxor, then the road south via Edfu and Kom Ombo to Philae in Aswan.

This short trip is for travellers with only a few days who still want to see Cairo, Luxor and Aswan. Days start early and are full, but flights, a private air-conditioned car and a guide who speaks English, Spanish or German keep everything moving.

Cairo comes first, with the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, the pyramids and Sphinx at Giza, the Citadel with the Mohamed Ali Mosque and a stroll through Khan el-Khalili. Before dawn the next day you fly to Luxor for the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon, followed by Karnak and Luxor Temple, and spend the night in Luxor.

On the last day you drive south through the farmland of Upper Egypt, stopping at the Temple of Horus at Edfu and the double temple of Kom Ombo, and reach Aswan around midday for the island temple of Philae. From there you fly back to Cairo. Breakfast is included each day; other meals are not.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Cairo
Our representative meets you at the airport and drives you to your hotel. Check in and rest. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 2
Egyptian Museum, pyramids, Citadel & Khan el-Khalili
Pickup at 8:00 for the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, then the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and the Sphinx at Giza. Continue to the Citadel for the Mosque of Suleiman Pasha, the Mohamed Ali Mosque and its palace, and end in Khan el-Khalili, back at your hotel by about 17:00. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 3
Cairo → Luxor: West Bank & East Bank
Pickup at 4:00 for the flight to Luxor, landing around 6:00. Visit the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, then Luxor Temple and Karnak with its Great Hypostyle Hall and Sacred Lake. Check in at your hotel. Overnight in Luxor.

Day 4
Luxor → Edfu → Kom Ombo → Aswan → Cairo
Check out at 7:00 and drive south, stopping at the Temple of Horus at Edfu and the temple of Sobek and Haroeris at Kom Ombo. Reach Aswan around midday for Philae, then transfer to Aswan Airport for your flight back to Cairo.
