Overview
Three days in Cairo with a private guide: Giza, Saqqara, Dahshur and Memphis on one day, then the Egyptian Museum, the Citadel and Khan el-Khalili on the next.
This short stay covers the classic Cairo sights without cramming them into a single day. You arrive, settle into your hotel and rest, and the touring starts properly the next morning with a private guide and an air-conditioned vehicle waiting outside.
The pyramid day goes well beyond Giza. After the three great pyramids, the Valley Temple of Khafre, the Sphinx and a camel ride on the plateau, you have lunch and drive south to Djoser's Step Pyramid at Saqqara, the Bent and Red Pyramids at Dahshur and the open-air museum at Memphis, Egypt's first capital, with its huge fallen statue of Ramses II and alabaster sphinx.
On the final day you move from antiquity to the medieval city: the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, Saladin's Citadel and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, then the lanes of the Islamic quarter and Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Lunch is included before the transfer to the airport.
